Bumpin': Baby Names

Naming a baby is probably one of the hardest and most important decisions a couple will make once they find out they're expecting. Don't you think??? According to babynamewizard.com, babynames.com, and nameberry.com, the following are the current most popular names (I only took a few from each list, and more specifically, the names that overlapped on all the websites). What do you think of these popular names? Are any of your kids named one of the below?

My oldest son's name is William, but back in 2009 when he was born, his name wasn't even close to the top of the most popular names lists! It's funny how things change in just a few years. I remember liking several of these names a few years ago, but I have to say I'm somewhat disenchanted by some of them now, but only because of their popularity! Does a name's current popularity lead you more towards choosing that name, or against choosing it???

Peter and I both tend to be drawn to old fashioned names (our kids are Clara and William), and with the upcoming babe, we're thinking along the same lines! Some of the names we've discussed have been Matilda, Norris (both of which I like, but he doesn't. boo.), Molly, Desmond, Hazel, Louisa, Bennett, and Frederick.

What are your current favorite baby names??? I'd love any suggestions to throw in the pot :)

  1. I posted a comment from the Pinterest link but I don't know if it worked. I loved hhis article http://www.gq.com/entertainment/humor/201307/nine-baby-naming-rules-2013
We are not agreeing on names around here, I like Russell Rusty, and up until I read that article Duke. I like Lucy, Betsy, Bridget, Suzy and Abigail. Kevin likes Javier.

    1. Ha! I love that article and I totally agree with everything! But I have to admit, I still think Duke is pretty cute :) And I love that Kevin likes Javier!

  2. Yep. As you know, our kid's names are on there :) Oliver was like William, super low on the list in 2009-oh well.

I love Louisa too! You have some good ones on your list. We had the hardest time figuring out a girl's name. James really liked Naomi. Next time around is going to be hard for us.

    1. Dede, as popular as they've gotten, I still love the names Oliver, William, and Sofia! Girls names are a lot harder for Peter and I to agree on than boy names . . . so we're anxious to find out what we're having so we can get to naming . . . or rather convincing each other to like the names we each like :)

  3. You definitely need to name your girl Matilda! I have never known a girl by that name besides the book, which was excellent, and the musical, even better.
